People who lost their lives during Putin's tenure

In Russia, opposing President Vladimir Putin is a tragic outcome. Even those close to Putin, many who have turned against him have died mysteriously. Sometimes they died by poisoning, sometimes by plane crash and sometimes by assailants. These mysterious deaths did not happen. On one side of this list are mercenary team leaders, Central Intelligence Agency agents. There are also politicians and journalists.

It was said that the person Vladimir Putin trusted most after himself was Yevgeny Prigozhin. Prigozhin, head of the mercenary Wagner Group, was the masterplanner of the Russian campaign in Ukraine. However, even this bellicose leader was not exempted from the crime of rebelling against Putin. He died in a mysterious plane crash.

After almost 1 century, there was a stir again in the case of killing by poisoning. In 2018, another Russian intelligence officer, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter were killed by the Novichok nerve agent. Skripal was accused of colluding with the West, including leaking Putin's secret information.

There are many cases of such consequences for Putin's critics inside and outside Russia. Apart from intelligence officers, economists, politicians, army officers are not in this list. Former Deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemestov was shot dead in 2015. General Gennady Lopirov also died mysteriously.

Putin's enemies are often found dead in their homes or hotel rooms. Sometimes they were killed by an assailant. But in most cases, the mystery of these deaths has no edge.

After the death of Russian opposition leader Navalny, the mysterious death of Putin's enemies is back in the news. The political leader, a staunch critic of Putin, died in a Russian prison on Thursday..

During Putin's tenure as a one-time intelligence officer, the first mysterious death was that of Alexander Litvinenko. In 2006, a former Russian spy was poisoned by radioactive polonium-210 in Britain. The death of Alexander, who took British citizenship, caused an uproar in the international community. The investigation blames Russia.
